Best RV Coffee Makers

Just because you’re traveling in an RV doesn’t mean that you should avoid the accouterments of home. For me, one of the most vital items I need to bring along for the ride is a coffee maker.

I’m not ready to face the day until I’ve had at least one cup of joe, and I don’t like to have to work hard for it, either.

Fortunately, there are many different coffee maker models out there that make it easy for people like me to keep their sanity without having to do anything overly complicated. Today I’m going to be discussing the most crucial elements to look for in these devices, as well as showcase some of the models that I like.

If you’re ready to upgrade your RVing experience with high-quality cup of coffee, then you’ve come to the right place.

Our Top Picks

Selecting a favorite coffee maker is very different when choosing one for the home or for an RV.

In organizing our results, we found we had to select three different use cases for an RV. Budget, space, and power are all factors that we had to equally weigh.

Types Of RV Coffee Makers

Drip Coffee Machines / Automatic Brew Coffee Pots

When you think of drip coffee makers, the first thing that comes to mind is the Mr. Coffee machine from the 80’s. The big plastic box with a large glass carafe. They are the most popular and most recognized style of coffee machine.

While these are great for the home where you can have a pot of brewed coffee enough for everyone in the house, they demand considerable counter space, electricity, and work best when making 8 or more cups of coffee at once.

For most RV’s, they’re just too big all around and we don’t recommend them unless you can prioritize the kitchen space and large quantities of coffee they produce.

Single-Serve Pod Coffee Makers

Pod coffee makers have been popularized by the best selling brand Keurig. You can find their coffee pods everywhere! Not just coffee, but tea, hot chocolate, and other selections.

Keurig has also developed several mini models, one of which is our top choice.

We really like Pod coffee makers for RV’s, not just for their small footprint, but the reduced clean-up due to the pods themselves. In our opinion, they’re probably the best type of coffee maker for most RV’ers.

Moka Pot Stove Coffee Makers

Moka Pot’s are a popular method in Europe to make espresso, and have caught on here in the USA.

Bialetti is the most popular brand and is the model I first bought when I decided to try a Moka pot.

We love the uniqueness of this awesome little pot as it’s a self-contained system to make a great tasting cup of espresso. I’m also an engineer, so the mechanics of it just dazzle me.

It runs on heat, so a propane stove, camp fire, or stove top work perfectly. We had propane in our Roadtrek, and our propane tank needed filling every 2 years, so we tried to use anything with propane before electricity.

What we’re not so fond of is the clean-up is a bit of a mess. Literally. And there is a learning curve to use them properly. Why didn’t it “pop” this time?!?!

We deliberated quite a bit on a Moka pot for an RV, and unfortunately, they just didn’t pass muster considering all the other choices that are now available.

We like them for home, but think there are better choices for RV use.

Press Coffee Makers

Press coffee makers have been popularized by the French Press. Another european product that has become mainstream in the USA. Bodum is one of the most famous brands and we personally own 3 of them. For several years, the one cup Bodum made out of plastic was our go-to RV coffee maker.

A newcomer that has modified the traditional french press design is the Aeropress. It’s become super popular. It does look a bit odd but people swear by the results.

We are huge fans of press coffee makers, but one thing we’re not so fond of is the clean-up. It takes quite a bit of water to clean all the grounds from the stainless steel filter screens. And water in an RV is one of the most precious resources on-board. We literally felt we used more water to clean the French Press than the cup of coffee we made. Probably didn’t, but it felt like it.

Pour Over Coffee Makers

Pour over coffee makers are similar in design as an automatic brew machine.

They both require a filter to hold coffee grounds, and rely on hot water to drip onto the grounds, thru the filter, to be caught by a carafe or coffee cup.

How they differ is the automatic brew machine brews the hot water for you and they usually make 8+ cups of coffee at once.

What is known as a “pour over coffee maker” is a manual device that uses a filter and a container to hold that filter, and it usually sits right on top of a coffee cup to make a single cup of coffee. That’s it! Nothing to plug in, no heating elements, water reservoir, etc. It does however depend on some other pot to provide the hot water.

They’re brain dead simple to use. But to make a cup of coffee, you still need several devices to make a cup of coffee:

  1. coffee filter holder
  2. coffee filter (unless you buy one that uses a metal mesh permanent filter)
  3. Pot to hold water
  4. Heating mechanism to boil the water
  5. Sturdy coffee cup. Can’t use a flimsy disposable coffee cup here.

When you consider all of that, while we tried to make them work for our RV lifestyle, we never felt we saved much on space or convenience.

Cold Brew Coffee Makers

We were first introduced to cold brew by Starbucks. Yumm. Frankly, we never liked the idea of cold coffee, until one 105 degree summer we gave it a shot, and wow!

Making cold brew coffee is drop dead simple. No heating required, just time to brew (6-12 hours).

It may not be for everyone, but we’ve found in warmer weather, it’s the only coffee maker we bring with us on our RV trips. Sometimes we don’t even chill it! We just throw coffee grounds into it with some water when we leave the house, and the next morning its ready to serve. Rinse and repeat and every morning we have great cold coffee.

We find it especially helpful when we go boondocking. If we bring ice with us, we don’t even chill it to brew. We just brew at room temp, and when ready to serve, we put a few ice cubes in our cup and pour the room temp coffee over it. Energy consumption for coffee is zero. Voila!

How To Choose The Best RV Coffee Maker

Type of Coffee – Coffee or Espresso?

What kind of coffee do you like to drink most? When picking out a coffee maker, it’s easy to think that you have to buy the most stripped-down version because you’re living in an RV. However, don’t skimp on quality or convenience just because you think you have to. In many cases, high-end coffee makers are not going to drain your resources that much, so don’t make yourself suffer.

Overall, you want to pick a model that allows you to brew the kind of coffee you love most. If you’re traveling with other people, make sure that everyone can have their preferred version, whether it’s a cappuccino or coffee as black as night.

That all being said, keep in mind the peripheral materials you’ll have to bring along as well. For example, if you have to bring a milk frother or bags of coffee beans, that will only add to your storage. Other items like coffee filters, stirrers, creamer, and sugar should also be taken into account.

I suggest that you bundle everything together to see what kind of storage space you’ll need to accommodate it all, and then decide if every piece is worth packing.

Our preference for a hot cup of coffee is espresso. With that one shot of espresso, we can make several variations to drink:

  1. Espresso with sugar
  2. Americano (espresso, sugar, and water added on top). Similar to a standard cup of coffee.
  3. Macchiato* (our RV version for convenience: espresso, sugar, and almond milk)

How Many Cups of Coffee – Single Or Multi-Cup?

Most coffee makers come in 3 choices for cup volume:

  1. Single cup: usually 8 ounces
  2. Mug: about 2 cups. These types of coffee makers leave enough space to fit a coffee cup or a coffee mug to directly receive the coffee
  3. Multi cup: 2, 4, 8, etc cups. Usually a carafe is the vessel.

We’re mainly 1 cup drinkers, and usually when we wake up in the morning. So for us a 1 cup coffee maker is ideal.

If you’re the type that likes to sip on coffee throughout the day or on a long drive, a mug would be a better option.

If you’re making for a group, a multi-cup is probably the most convenient. That is if everyone in the group just wants a pot of drip type coffee.

If you have a group that prefers having choices, a pod type coffee maker might be a better choice. It only makes 1 cup at a time, but it lets some have coffee, others have tea, and the kiddos have hot chocolate.

Space

No matter what you bring on your trip, size is always going to matter. Storage and counter space are still in short supply, so it’s imperative that you choose a coffee maker that won’t create any unnecessary burden.

When picking out the right size, pay attention to how well it stores when you’re traveling as well as how much room it takes up while you’re using it. For the most part, I like to put appliances away as soon as I’m done with them, but if you plan on keeping your coffee maker out for the duration of your stay, be sure that it won’t get in the way of anything else you may be doing on the counter. There’s nothing more annoying than having to move something all the time

Clean-Up

Since I put my appliances in storage all the time, I want to be able to clean it out as quickly as possible. It’d be ideal if it had a removable water reservoir. Also, because water is another finite resource, you don’t want to have to use a lot of it to get your coffee maker back to pristine condition.

For the most part, I like units that use individual cups for brewing since they are much easier to maintain. However, if you prefer not to create as much waste, then you will likely be choosing a model that requires more cleaning.

To help save time, I suggest buying a camper coffee maker that’s compatible with your mugs or other drinking vessel. While brewing a pot can be helpful for when you have multiple people in your RV (or for when you need a couple of cups to get going), it’s just another dish to clean.

Pro Tip: to save water, I suggest bringing a few gallons with you so that you can pour them into your coffee maker instead of using the tap. This will ensure that you’re not using so much water for one appliance.

Power Source

When you’re making coffee at home, it’s easy to keep it plugged in all the time. You just turn it on and watch it work. However, in an RV, power is a finite resource like everything else, so you have to plan accordingly.

When you go camping and traveling in your RV, do you usually have access to shore power, or is electricity in short supply? Depending on your circumstance, you will have to get a coffee maker that fits your lifestyle.

Personally, I prefer electric models because they are so convenient, but I also keep an old-school coffee pot for when I’m not close to an outlet (or I want to save gas in my generator).

If you decide to get an electric coffee maker, then be sure to pay attention to the volt and wattage requirements to ensure that you’re not going to blow a fuse. To be safe, I highly recommend using one device at a time (unless you’re plugged in). Also, choose a maker with as few watts as possible so that you aren’t limited to having high-quality coffee when you’re running on shore power.

There are four sources of heat for most RV’s:

  • Gas: typically propane that is stored in a tank under your RV
  • AC: shore power, generator power, or alternator power
  • DC: 12v power supplied by your motorhome or your battery banks. Connected via cigarette lighter outlet and USB outlets.
  • Campfire: produces heat to warm up water in a pot or vessel

Our Specs For The Ideal RV Coffee Maker

So for us, we have a Class B Roadtrek, one of the smallest forms of RV on the road. It’s a Sprinter van based RV so it’s cramped. Every nook and cranny is a precious resource.

Energy is supplied by a 400 watt AGM power bank, recharged by 300W solar panels and an underhood alternator. It provided AC and DC and also has propane tanks for the stove.

Even with all that energy available to us, we mostly boondock and rarely use camp hookups. So our list of requirements are probably more restrictive than others, but you can apply what we use here and if you have more abundant power or use campsite hook-ups regularly, you’ll do even better with our recommendations.

Ideal Specs For An RV Coffee Maker

  • Cups of Coffee: single. We travel with no more than 4 people, it’s easy to make 4 cups with the right coffee maker.
  • Amount of Coffee: Cup. Some offer “mug” size amounts, but as I said in the point above, if you want more, just push the button again.
  • Filter: none. Not all coffee makers require filters such as Pods, so our choice is none. If you had to have one, disposable is preferable over reusable since you save water by not having to wash out a reusable filter.
  • Auto Shut-off: yes. If needed, having it shut off automatically is ideal.
  • Coffee: Pod. Pods are the most convenient way to go while camping. They take little space, are perfectly measured (no need to get a spoon dirty), and don’t require water for clean-up.
  • Power: None. This only works for cold brewed coffee. Nearly all other methods will require an energy source to boil the water. In order of preference: Propane, DC, and then AC.

The Best RV Coffee Makers To Buy

The Best Budget Coffee Makers

Keurig K-Mini Coffee Maker

Our #1 Pick for the best budget RV coffee maker

Keurig K-Mini Coffee Maker
  • TYPE: coffee
  • SPACE: 12.1″H x 4.5″W x 11.3″D
  • WEIGHT: 4.6 lbs
  • CLEAN UP: None
  • POWER: AC
  • DRINK: 6-12 oz
  • RESERVOIR: 6-12 oz
  • FILTER No (pod)

At less than five inches wide, the incredibly slim and easy to use, K-Mini single serve coffee maker makes anywhere perfect for great coffee. The Keurig K-Mini brewer combines sleek design with space-saving convenience in a portable, stylish package that delivers fresh brewed, delicious coffee from your favorite K-Cup pods in minutes.

I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with Keurig coffee makers. On the one hand, I like the convenience offered by the coffee pods and think the Keurik K-Mini is an awesome balance between convenience, size, and flavor. But on the other hand, they are bulky and wasteful (those pods don’t decompose). If you prefer comfort over everything else, however, then the K-Mini is an excellent choice for your RV.

Before talking about the various features, I should mention that you need to use the K-cup 2.0 version. If you have a stockpile of the original pods, you won’t be able to use them. Also, you should only use this appliance when plugged in or using the generator to ensure that you don’t blow a fuse. As long as you meet those requirements, you’re ready to go.

Overall, the K-Mini is built for space savings. An RV is super tight on space, so this is an awesome coffee maker for the RV. It doesn’t have a reservoir tank to hold water, so you’ll need to add water every time you want to use it. That’s actually a great convenience so you don’t have to drain it every time you decide to store it.

What I like about this model is that it’s both fast and high-tech. It uses a digital display screen to control the size and strength of your coffee. You can also use the machine to boil water if you want to use it for other purposes besides drinking.

Another excellent aspect of the K-Mini is that it is energy efficient. While you can program it to stay hot for brewing multiple cups in sequence, it will automatically turn off to save power. Since you don’t want to overload your RV’s circuits, this feature is helpful. For the most part, you can brew a single serving cup of coffee in under a minute, making it one of the faster models out there.

Cleaning is a breeze because the coffee doesn’t mix with the grounds. Simply toss the K-cup and empty the tank. However, if you do spill anything into the drip tray, it is removable for convenience. Also, taking it out allows you to use larger travel mug sizes.

Depending on how much coffee you drink, the 12-ounce reservoir may be a good or bad thing. If that sounds like enough for you, then this is a highly capable coffee maker that will take up little space in storage or on the counter. However, if you prefer to have more than one cup, you may think that this system is a bit counterintuitive.

Some unique features that come with this machine include a cleaning setting that runs hot water through the system. Not only can you use it to boil water, but it’s much easier to maintain with this setting. The drip tray is also removable to wash it more thoroughly when necessary.

As far as coffee goes, this model is compatible with disposable K-cups (both 1.0 and 2.0 versions). Chulux doesn’t seem to make its own coffee pods, so you are somewhat limited in that regard. • WEIGHT: 5.25 lbs
  • CLEAN UP: filter
  • POWER: AC
  • DRINK: 8-14 oz

The Scoop Coffeemaker doesn’t need pre-packaged K-Cup packs or coffee pods, which can get expensive, and not to mention stale, over time. Instead, it comes with a mesh scoop filter.

Use the REGULAR setting for a quick basic, automatic drip coffee, or get an upgrade and choose BOLD for more fine grinds, decaf or stronger flavors premium-brand coffee like Starbucks or Melitta. Just remember that the finer the grind, the longer it takes to brew. For bolder coffee, the water passes through at a slower rate, but allows more contact time and better flavor extraction for a better-tasting cup when done brewing.

Before brewing, adjust the L-shaped cup rest to make sure your cup is as close to the dispensing nozzle as possible. For travel mugs, fit the cup rest against the coffeemaker and place your mug on top of the drip tray.

Unlike leading coffeemakers with confusing attachments and high-tech buttons, The Scoop Coffeemaker has only three removable parts, 1) a scoop filter, 2) a secondary filter and 3) a cup rest.

Pros
  • Fits a coffee cup and a mug 7 1/4″ tall
  • Super easy cleaning

For those who want to brew a quick cup of joe but don’t want to deal with the hassle of a full pot, BLACK+DECKER’s coffeemaker is for them. It’s a sleek, simple machine that does one thing and does it well—brews a single cup of coffee, tea, or cocoa. It’s small enough to fit on nearly any countertop, but has enough power to brew a full-flavored small pot of coffee.

A quick note: I had to look up what the + meant in the name. The answer is that there is a B&D company and a B+D company, so they co-opted an ampersand.

If you’ve ever tried to make coffee in a drip brewer, you probably know how hard it is to get a decent cup of coffee. Well, that changes with the BLACK+DECKER single serve coffeemaker. You just add your favorite coffee grounds, add the water, and you’re good to go. And, of course, you’ve probably noticed the price of coffee at your local supermarket. Its not exactly cheap, is it? The great thing about this coffeemaker is that it produces 12 cups of coffee from one small capsule, giving you a lot of coffee for a low price.

Pros
  • Easy to clean
  • Super slim and small, easy to store
  • Fills cups and mugs
  • No paper filters needed
Cons

Nespresso Essenza Mini Expresso Machine is a compact espresso machine that takes a traditional espresso shot to the next level. It’s easy to use, even for novices, creating barista-style Espresso and Coffee drinks every time.

In our opinion, the Nespresso makes the best espresso you can make at home with the convenience of one-touch operation and a pod. To get any better than this you’d have to get serious and spend hundreds of dollars for a mechanical all-in-one super automatic such as the Gaggia Brera.

Balancing convenience, clean-up, quality of drink, and space savings, there’s nothing better than this little Nespresso for an RV. Period.

Pros
  • Super high quality espresso
  • Fast warm-up
  • Great crema
  • Makes it hot (not warm)
  • Extremely small and thin, great fit in RV
  • Can reprogram the Lungo button to make an equivalent to coffee (Americano)
Cons
  • Nespresso pods not found everywhere like Keurig cups

Keurig K-Mini Plus Coffee Maker

Keurig K-Mini Plus Coffee Maker
  • TYPE: coffee
  • SPACE: 12″H x 4.5″W x 11.3″D
  • WEIGHT: 4.6 lbs
  • CLEAN UP: None
  • POWER: AC
  • DRINK: 6-12 oz
  • RESERVOIR: 6-12 oz
  • FILTER: No (pod)

At less than 5″ wide, the incredibly slim and easy to use K-Mini Plus single serve coffee maker makes anywhere perfect for great coffee. The Keurig K-Mini Plus brewer combines sleek design with space-saving convenience in a portable, stylish package that delivers fresh brewed, delicious coffee from your favorite K-Cup pods in minutes.

Coming in at #2 in our Best Value Coffee Makers is the Keurig K-Mini Plus. The Keurig K-Mini is our #1 Best Budget coffee maker, but the “plus” is more expensive and in our opinion, doesn’t do enough to make it the #1 in the Best Value category.

How they K-Mini and K-Mini Plus differ from one another:

  • Size: From the outside, they look identical, even having the exact same exterior dimensions.
  • Reservoir: The Plus has a removable reservoir. This is a big deal, especially when you need to empty the water before you hit the road. Moving an entire machine in a tiny RV kitchen trying to dump the water out may be easy in a home kitchen, but it can be downright messy in an RV sink.
  • Looks: There are slight upgrades such as a silver accents. This is merely looks and not enough for our liking. If the entire machine was made or wrapped in stainless steel, OK, that’s a nice upgrade. But painted silver plastic bits…pass.
  • Storage: The K-Mini Plus has a built-in drawer for storage. We haven’t found that it added all that much more convenience for our liking, but some may find value in it.
  • Flavor: Strong Brew Button. OK, this is something we’re really interested in. It brews slightly slower, allowing the coffee grounds to bring out their strength and flavor profile. For a full break down on how and why this little button works, check out this post by Top Of My Coffee. It will take longer to brew a coffee, but we think it’s worth it. Over the years we’ve come to enjoy strong, smooth, low acidic coffee and espresso’s and our home espresso machine is a Gaggia Super Automatic Titanium, so anything we drank in our RV was just … ‘weak’ to us. This Strong Brew Button helps us like the Keurig that much more. It does make a difference, but not everyone may notice it. If you’re going to try it, it’s especially important to use high quality coffee grounds such as the Peet’s Cafe Domingo K-Cup.

Pixie, the quickest of the Nespresso machines, reaches its heating temperature in 25 seconds, thanks to its rapid thermo-block, and provides you with the perfect coffee in record time. A powerful, unrivaled technique.

Here’s another Nespresso that made our Best Value list. It’s a beautiful little machine and makes an awesome espresso like the Nespresso Essenza Mini.

Nespresso Pixie vs Nespresso Essenza Mini

  1. Flavor: They both make a great tasting espresso, not much of a difference in our opinion
  2. Speed: The Pixie has a Fast Heat Up, so it’s faster than the Essenza. At home this is awesome, but in an RV, the added electrical load may overwhelm some electrical system and blow breakers. So it’s a slight ding on the Pixie for an RV.
  3. Cups: Pixis has a foldable drip tray for different size cups and mugs. That’s a plus for the Pixie.
  4. Size: The Pixie is 1.1″ wider 1.3″ taller, which is enough of a difference to be a big ding for an RV and storage in an RV. This is the second biggest ding on the Pixie
Pros
  • Very easy and fast operation
  • Easy clean-up
  • Compact
  • Super flavorful
  • If you like espresso but don’t want to put in the work to make your own properly, this is a great system
Cons
  • Quite noisy, it will probably wake up anyone sleeping in your RV

I’m a huge coffee fan and I’m always looking for new ways to enjoy it. My favourite way to drink espresso is on the go and I thought it would be great if there was a way I could enjoy coffee anywhere.

The Conqueco espresso maker is a thermos-like device that packs a piston, filter, and a heating element into a flask. You add water and coffee grounds, screw on the top, and press the power button.

The Conqueco Portable Espresso Maker is equipped with a car charger (12V 7A) for charging from a DC cigarette socket in your RV.

To clean it, simply press the switch button for 5s to run the machine without capsules and it will auto wash. The only thing you’ll need to clean is the included cup, but you’d need to clean a cup regardless of which coffee maker you purchase.

Pros
  • Puts out good-tasting espresso
  • All in one unit, reservoir, heats water, brews coffee
  • Uses coffee pods so no mess, no filters to clean or consume
  • If your used to quality Nespresso espresso, this makes a shot almost as tasty but super portable
Cons
  • The heating element uses a lot of power, get about 3 espressos on one charge
  • Takes around 7-10 minutes to make coffee

What we love about the Conqueco:

  1. It runs on batteries
  2. It boils the water
  3. It produces coffee
  4. Easy clean mechanism
  5. It’ll make about 3 cups of coffee on one charge
  6. It’s super small and light

We think it’s the ultimate boondocking and camping coffee maker!

Takeya Patented Deluxe Cold Brew Coffee Maker

Takeya Patented Deluxe Cold Brew Coffee Maker
  • TYPE: coffee
  • SPACE: 9.5″H x 5″W x 7.5″D
  • WEIGHT: 0.8 lbs
  • CLEAN UP: filter
  • POWER: None
  • DRINK: up to 32 oz
  • RESERVOIR: 32 oz
  • FILTER: Reusable filter

Taste the difference of the cold brew process, and enjoy the naturally delicious and smooth flavors of coffee without the undesirable acidity. The fine-mesh coffee filter keeps coffee grounds out of your coffee. Once brewed, the concentrated cold brew coffee can be kept fresh for up to two weeks in the airtight Cold Brew Coffee Maker and used for both hot and iced coffees.

As we mentioned previously, we’ve become huge fans of cold brew in the last couple of years, especially when we RV in the warm months.

When we first started making cold brew coffee we just used a simple mason jar and stuck it in our home refrigerator and we made an awesome brew! For an RV though, we try to avoid breakable stuff like glass as much as possible. This Takeya, while super simple in operation, has a lot of things going for it, such as being made of BPA Free Tritan plastic. It’s tough, durable, and won’t shatter glass shards everywhere if you do succeed in breaking it.

The mesh filter is just a simple filter. Unlike a French Press that has issues with grounds ending up in the brew, the Takeya does an A+ job at keeping grounds out. And clean-up is fast and simple.

Pros
  • Easy to clean and use
  • Coffee tastes great
  • Much cheaper alternative to pre-made cold brews
  • Way smoother with higher caffeine content
  • Coarse grounded coffee beans work the best
Cons
  • Questionable durability

For a boondocking coffee maker where power and water are top of mind, a simple, non-powered device such as this Takeya are one of our favorite devices to take with us on the road. It’s reliable, always works, and we can brew at room temperature. It just takes prior planning.

For us, we start a brew when we leave the house and it’s ready the next morning. If we consume all of it, we start a new brew so it’ll be ready for us again the next day. Rinse and repeat and always have a high quality brew available.

If we happen to have ice with us, we’ll pour it over some cubes to make it a true cold brew. In our Roadtrek, we have enough solar power that runs our refrigerator and some other light loads, so if we take it we’ll just throw the Takeya in the refrigerator.

The biggest knock on it is we wish it somehow could use a pod type of system so clean-up was zero. Cleaning the mesh filter is fairly fast but water consumption isn’t zero.

Overall though, we love it. Highly recommended.

AeroPress Go Portable Travel Coffee Press

AeroPress Go Portable Travel Coffee Press
  • TYPE: espresso
  • SPACE: 9.9″H x 7.5″W X 7.5″D
  • WEIGHT: 0.7 lbs
  • CLEAN UP: None
  • POWER: None*
  • DRINK: 8 oz
  • RESERVOIR: 8 oz
  • FILTER: Disposable filter

The AeroPress Go is thoughtfully engineered to provide all the delicious brewing capabilities of the original AeroPress plus a convenient drinking mug that doubles as a carrying case. Like the original AeroPress, the AeroPress Go brews remarkably delicious American, espresso, and cold brew style coffee.

Like the original AeroPress, the AeroPress Go brews remarkably delicious American, espresso, and cold brew style coffee. The AeroPress Go is optimized for traveling, camping, or just going to work by making it convenient and easy to take your AeroPress with you. Its smart design ensures that you will never be without delicious AeroPress brewed coffee wherever you go.

Thousands of people love the full-sized AeroPress and are big believers in it. The AeroPress Go resolves some of the issues for RV and boondocking use such as having an incorporate cup so you don’t have to have strong, durable, coffee cups to support the AeroPress.

It’s cheaper than pod type machines since you just use coffee grounds. This allows you to choose your favorite beans as well as the strength. But this brings a downside to it as well since it requires the use of a filter, mostly disposable, which is a plus since it makes clean-up a snap.

If you like espresso, you’ll be fine with the 6 oz cup of coffee the AeroPress Go makes. For others used to a full or mug sized coffee, you’ll be greatly disappointed in the Go. This is the biggest thing to remember if you opt for the Go, 6 oz of coffee is the max you’ll make per serving. To get more, you’ll have to press several in a row.

Pros
  • Uses same size filters as the full-sized AeroPress
  • Super small, super simple, great tasting!
  • It’s true, no bitterness
  • The ultimate travel coffee press
Cons
  • Water temp greatly changes flavor, recommend useing a kettle that can have it’s temperature set to a precise degree
  • To get the best flavor, have to use 2x as much coffee beans as you would in a traditional coffee machine

In a nutshell, the AeroPress Go is perfect for those that boondock a lot, are in a tiny camper, trailer, or Class B RV where space is a priority, or for those that just want the occasional cup of joe and don’t mind 6 ounces at a time. The flavor is awesome and allows you to adjust coffee grounds and water temp to dial in the perfect coffee the way you like it without all the bitterness and acidity.

It’s highly recommended but be aware of the limitations getting a micro coffee machine.

iMiGoo Single Serve Coffee Maker

iMiGoo Single Serve Coffee Maker
  • TYPE: coffee
  • SPACE: 8.5″H x 3.4″W x 3.4″ D
  • WEIGHT: 1.7 lbs
  • CLEAN UP: filter
  • POWER: AC
  • DRINK: 10 oz
  • RESERVOIR: 10 oz
  • FILTER: Reusable filter

The iMiGoo Single Serve Coffee Maker is your personal coffee maker, with a compact and lightweight design that makes it easy to take with you anywhere. The single-cup coffee maker brews one cup of coffee at a time and fits in the palm of your hand. It’s perfect for RV travel as its one of the most compact coffee makers in a single unit.

Here’s another cool micro coffee maker that’s an all-in-one device. It’s hard to believe something so small can heat water, brew coffee, and dispense a hot cup of joe from one machine.

It’s super versatile as well. You can brew coffee, make tea, boil water, or let it keep your drink warm for you.

Some of the limitations are 10.6 ounces for a coffee but 17 ounces if just needing hot water.

The operation of it is a tried-and-true, old school percolating system. It works well and it’s quite impressive.

Pros
  • Coffee and tea taste great
  • Also great for boiled water, automatically shuts off after water reaches the desired temp
  • Fast, 1 min to boil water
  • So small, fits in a desk drawer or a kitchen drawer
Cons
  • It could have better controls on the front as well as a timer
  • Not battery operated, requires AC power

The one thing we really wished this device had was a battery, so we didn’t have to have it plugged in to AC to use it. Other than that, it’s a fun little gadget we think everyone should try.

Bodum Brazil French Press Coffee and Tea Maker

Bodum Brazil French Press Coffee and Tea Maker
  • TYPE: coffee
  • SPACE: 2.6″H x 1.7″W x 1.2″D
  • WEIGHT: 0.5 lbs
  • CLEAN UP: filter
  • POWER: None*
  • DRINK: 12 oz
  • RESERVOIR: 12 oz
  • FILTER: Reusable filter

The BRAZIL coffee maker uses premium quality borosilicate glass for the carafe and a reusable stainless steel filter to extract the full flavor from your precious beans. However its lightweight, BPA-free plastic body, handle and lid look stylish while epitomizing our motto that good design doesn’t have to be expensive.

Ah, Bodum, how we blame thee for turning us into coffee snobs. Our journey into coffee where we started playing with the science of heat, time, size of coffee grounds, and methods to brewing coffee. The French Press was cheap and easy to start experimenting.

For the person that justs wants a simple cup of great tasting coffee, it’s as simple as adding pre-ground coffee, pour boiling water into it, waiting 4 minutes, then pressing and pouring. Super simple. From there you can build on all sorts of variables, but you don’t have to!

This isn’t a one-button push kind of coffee maker. But it can make a really fine cup of coffee with a little bit of effort!

The few knocks we have on a French Press are:

  1. It’s a bit messy to clean-up. Consuming more water than we’d prefer for a function such as cleaning.
  2. Coffee grounds, somehow, always end up in our drink. Not a ton, just a few, enough to make it annoying.
  3. Timing the brew. That used to be annoying when we had to do it with our watch or eventually buying a kitchen timer. Now that we all have smartphones, it’s not that big a deal.
Pros
  • Perfect for coffee snobs, it’ll make a deeply flavored cup of coffee
  • Super simple to use, no power required, other than what’s needed to heat water
  • Can also use to make cold brew coffee
  • Bodum has been making french presses for a very long time and have perfected it
Cons
  • May use quite a bit of water to clean grounds out of the mesh filter

Overall, we love French Presses and Bodum is the original. They’ve perfected it. If you’re ready to up your coffee game, we see no better way to do it on a budget than this one from Bodum.

Wacaco Nanopresso Portable Espresso Maker

Wacaco Nanopresso Portable Espresso Maker
  • TYPE: espresso
  • SPACE: 7.5″H x 3.4″W x 3.4″D
  • WEIGHT: 0.9 lbs
  • CLEAN UP: filter
  • POWER: None*
  • DRINK: 2.7 oz
  • RESERVOIR: 2.7 oz
  • FILTER: Reusable filter

Built around a newly patented pumping system, the Nanopresso is capable of reaching, with the help of your hands, a maximum of 18 bars (261 PSI) of stable pressure during extraction for unparalleled coffee quality. It is more than what most home espresso machines can deliver.

Thanks to its innovative construction and easy operation, Nanopresso will help you brew perfect cups with a nice and dense crema layer every time.

OK, making espresso without the proper pressure, in a device that doesn’t need electricity? On top of that, it’s so small you can fit it into the front pocket of your jeans??

This is the Nanopresso. It’s awesome. It’s nano in size. And it makes a decent espresso while you’re boondocking, camping, fishing, or out and about.

The one downside is you still need a source of hot water. The other downside is, like most espresso machines, it can be quite messy with the fine coffee grounds making clean-up a chore and consumption of water. Luckily, they also make an adapter so you can avoid all that mess with their NS-adapter that allows using Nespresso pods!

Pros
  • Makes espresso on par with an expensive machine
  • It can make espresso in 3-5 mins
  • Compact and portable
  • Can use nespresso capsule adapter (NS adapter) to make things easier and cleaner
  • The smaller total coffee maker we reviewed in this article
  • Built to take abuse. Durable, water-resistant, and compactly stores for easy travel
  • Doesn’t need much. All you need is ground coffee and boiling water.
Cons
  • It takes a long time to clean
  • It’s messy

Overall, we love this device if your a solo traveler. If you’re expecting to travel with 2 or more people that expect an espresso every morning, this may not be the device for you. The NS-Adapter makes it much more possible to do, but it is a manual press to build the pressure so it can be a bit annoying making multiple at a time.

But if space, power, portability, and quality of espresso are tops on your list, you should give the Nanopresso a shot (pun intended).

Others To Consider

SterlingPro Double Wall Stainless Steel French Coffee Press

SterlingPro French Press Coffee Maker
  • This is one of the largest capacity French coffee press around
  • Brews 44 oz. (11 coffee cups or about 6 coffee mugs)
  • Given the ‘Best Overall’ award by an Amazon Verified Expert
  • The innovative two-screen system provides granule-free coffee that is problematic for most French Presses

For some people, the best way to make a pot of coffee is to use a French Press. There’s something so satisfying about manually separating your coffee that makes it an ideal choice for many connoisseurs.

What’s nice about having a French Press is that you don’t necessarily have to plug in anywhere. As long as you can boil water (on a gas stove or an open flame), you don’t need an outlet to get the perfect cup. That being said, you do have to bring another pot to boil the water, so it does mean more accessories to pack.

This French Press from SterlingPro is remarkable for a couple of reasons. First, it’s one of the largest models you can find. It comes in either a one or two-liter size, which allows you to make up to 16 cups at once. Thus, if you’re planning on making enough for the whole family (plus seconds), this is the pot to buy.

The other reason that this press is so unique is that it uses a double screen filter. This ensures that you get no coffee grounds in your cup (manufacturer guarantee). Having drunk plenty of French-pressed coffee that had bits of grounds in it, I can say that this is a huge plus.

Finally, the design and construction of this pot are incredible. It’s made of high-quality stainless steel, and it uses a double wall design to insulate its contents. Whether you’re making coffee or tea, this pot will keep it warm for hours, not minutes. This model is also dishwasher safe so that you can keep it clean in between your travels.

Nespresso Inissia Espresso Machine

Nespresso Inissia Original Espresso Machine
  • Material: Plastic
  • Brand: Breville
  • Color: Red
  • Voice command: Buttons
  • Item Weight: 6 Pounds

If you love espresso, then you’re probably familiar with the Nespresso brand. Like Keurig, it uses disposable coffee pods to deliver high-quality cups in less time than it takes to boil an egg. In fact, this unit is faster than the K475. Instead of taking up to a minute to heat the coffee, it’s ready in less than 30 seconds.

One of the reasons that the Inissia is so fast is that it has a smaller water reservoir. 24 ounces is perfect for a single coffee drinker (or two), and you can make either espresso or lungo (larger) sizes. Simply press the corresponding button, and you’re ready to go.

What makes the Inissia ideal for RVing is its compact design. It has a slim profile and weighs just over five pounds, ensuring that storage and counter space are not a problem. Also, it comes with a milk frother as well so that you can get the perfect espresso every time.

Another reason this unit is great for the RV life is that it shuts off automatically after a few minutes. That being said, it does use a lot of power to heat the water, so you should only operate the machine when you’re plugged in.

The one thing that I don’t like about Nespresso coffee makers is that they are so narrowly focused. While you can choose different blends, they are all espresso. So, if you prefer other kinds of coffee, you’re out of luck. However, if you only drink espresso, then you have nothing to worry about.

Cleaning the Inissia is also easy thanks to the removable water tank and drip tray. Also, it stores used coffee pods so that you can toss a bunch at once instead of individually. This system also allows you to brew multiple cups in sequence without delay. To help you get started, this coffee maker comes with 16 pods.

Key Features

  • BARISTA GRADE: Nespresso Inissia by Breville offers an impeccable single serve coffee or espresso cup every time, thanks to its automatic operation and patented extraction system which delivers up to 19 bars of pressure. The Inissia is the perfect coffee machine that fits perfectly into any interior design.

  • ENERGY EFFICIENT COFFEE MACHINE: Brew two different cup sizes; Espresso (1.35 oz) and Lungo (5 oz), with just the touch of a button. Pour over ice to create your favorite iced coffee drinks. With the smart energy saving mode automatically switches off our coffee maker after 9 only minutes
  • SMART COFFEE MAKER: Adjustable cup size with two programmable espresso and lungo buttons. The folding drip tray accommodates larger single serve cup sizes and recipes.

De’Longhi Lattissima Plus Espresso Machine

De'Longhi Lattissima Plus Espresso Machine
  • BARISTA GRADE: De’Longhi’s patented espresso extraction system creates the ideal flow of water with 19 bars of pressure to deliver quality single serve espresso and coffee drinks every time.
  • SMART COFFEE MAKER: Choose your favorite coffee or espresso drinks (3 milk and 2 coffee options) with a touch of button on the illuminated control panel using Nespresso Original capsules.
  • VERSATILE: Single touch easy to clean hot milk system helps you create the perfect single serve cup of coffee or espresso effortlessly. Adjustable sliding drip tray accommodates larger coffee drinks (latte, cappuccino and Italian macchiato).
  • TECHNOLOGY: Thermoblock heating system speeds cold-start heating time to seconds and maintains optimal temperature to enjoy multiple single serve coffee drinks instantly.
  • ENERGY: Lattissima Plus has an energy-saving adjustable auto-off timer to help reduce electricity consumption.

As far as convenience goes, the Lattissima has all of the standard features you would expect. It uses a high-pressure mechanism to extract more flavor out of your coffee, which also ensures that you get your cup super fast (less than a minute). It has a one-touch operation, and the digital display gives you all the information you need.

While the Inissia Coffee Maker from Nespresso is designed specifically for espressos, the Lattissima is built for lattes as well. As such, I personally prefer this system because it offers more variety in your coffee experience.

The size of this machine is a bit bulky, although it’s nothing compared to the K475. It has a 30-ounce water reservoir to make even more coffee, so it’s perfect for single drinkers or pairs.

One unique feature of the Lattissima is the integrated milk frother. What I like about this is that it automatically adds foam to your coffee so that you don’t have to worry about doing it yourself. You can get an expertly layered beverage in seconds with no effort. Also, the frother is removable for both cleaning purposes and to save space.

As with other high-end coffee makers, this unit does use a lot of power, so keep that in mind. However, cleaning is still a breeze thanks to the removable drip tray and water tank, as well as the used pod storage. Overall, if you love espresso and lattes, I highly recommend this machine.

  • Patented single touch hot milk system; simply slide the milk tank onto front of the machine; clean button makes it easy to maintain
  • Convenient illuminated control panel buttons allow you to choose your favorite drink with ease, with 3 milk and 2 coffee selections
  • Patented coffee capsule system. Water container capacity-30 ounce. Removable Water Tank-Easy to clean with drip tray and used capsule container

  • Four color options available
  • Single touch system
  • Integrated milk frother for convenience
  • Illuminated control panel
  • Three milk and two coffee settings 30-ounce water reservoir
  • Removable tank and drip tray
  • Stores used capsules
  • Can make lattes and espressos
  • Milk frother is removable
  • High-pressure system extracts more flavor
Cons
  • Doesn’t get as hot as other machines
  • Uses a lot of power

Mixpresso Single Serve K-Cup Coffee Maker

Mixpresso Single Serve K-Cup Coffee Maker
  • Material: Metal
  • Brand: Mixpresso
  • Color: Dark/Gray
  • Capacity: 1 Cups
  • Voice command: Buttons

If you like the idea of using K-Cups, but you don’t want to pay extra for a brand-name Keurig, then something like this Coffee Maker from Mixpresso is a much better option.

Interestingly enough, this machine is even more compatible with K-cups than most Keurigs. It accepts both original and 2.0 versions, as well as refillable pods and Mixpresso brand cups as well. Overall, if you like the convenience of being able to bring whatever you want, then this is the coffee maker for you.

Although this machine is a little bulky, it’s a decent size for two or three coffee drinkers. It can brew your cup in under a minute, and it offers three cup size options for convenience. With 45 ounces of water available, you can make quite a few servings.

Cleaning this machine is also easy because of the pods and the removable drip tray. I like that it shuts off automatically to save power, but it’s one of the most electric-hungry models (1400 watts), so you can’t use it without plugging in or turning on your generator. Still, when it comes to single-serving coffee, this is a versatile and reliable appliance.

And, its benefits don’t stop there. The Scoop Coffeemaker utilizes the simplicity of ground coffee and brews a customizable cup quickly: an 8 oz. cup in less than 90 seconds or a 14 oz. travel mug in under two-and-a-half minutes.

Although single-serve coffee makers are convenient, they can be quite limiting in the types of coffee you can drink. If you prefer an old-school model that allows you to use a variety of coffee brands, then you will want something like this Hamilton Beach Scoop Coffee Maker.

On the one hand, using this machine does mean that you have to bring coffee grounds with you, along with filters. However, this model does come with its own scoop, so that’s something. Also, the scoop is labeled with measurements so that you don’t overfill the top and cause a leak.

Like the Chulux, this machine is designed for a single drinker as it comes with a 14-ounce water tank. This means that it’s compact and lightweight, but it also means that you can’t make more than one cup at a time.

Overall, I like the simplicity and classic function of this coffee maker, and the stainless steel design is both durable and long-lasting. If you want more control over your cup, then this is an excellent option for your RV.

Final Verdict

There are two major factors to consider which is the right coffee maker for you.

The first factor is if you like Coffee or Espresso. While they both use coffee beans, the taste can be quite different.

The second factor is how big of an RV you have, or more accurately, how much space do you have to dedicate to a RV coffee maker. Even in the largest of RV’s, a bus sized Class A with pop-outs, you may not value the little amount of space you have to put a large pot coffee machine as much as someone who just wants an occasional cup of coffee.

Consider the above and everything else discussed in this article, we highly recommend one of the three below based on what is the most important factors for you and your RV.
